His name is enough to run a film. People go to the theaters because of him. But if the content of his film isn’t too good, his films won’t perform as great as his usual ones. Even Superstars have suffered a beating at the box office because of bad content. Nothing can replace content.

Is SRK, Kajol back together on screen?

Bollywood’s favourite ‘jodi’ Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol are likely to share screen space together one again. According to a report in Mid-Day.com, director Rohit Shetty has managed this casting coup for his next film.

The report further suggests that Rohit has already signed the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge actress. Kajol, who is yet make her come back in the film industry, was finalised last week for the film. The film’s pre-production work has already begun and an official announcement will be made soon.

Rohit Shetty is working on the final draft of the script and the film will go on floors in 2015. This will be Rohit’s second film with SRK after the superhit ‘Chennai Express’.

The website also reported that it was easy for Rohit Shetty to convince Kajol for the film as he shares a good rapport with her husband Ajay Devgn. Rohit Shetty was also the mediator between Shah Rukh and Ajay.

Shah Rukh and Kajol, who are very good friends in real life, have in the past created magic with their work in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Baazigar’ etc...

‘Creature 3D’ not a horror movie, says Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu has spooked the audience by acting in horror films ‘Raaz’ and ‘Aatma’. But she says her forthcoming film ‘Creature 3D’ does not belong to the genre.

“It’s the first Indian creature film and that was the most exciting part… also being done by Vikram Bhatt is great,” she said.

“Anybody who thinks it’s a horror film doesn’t have the right information. It’s a film like ‘Jurassic Park’ or ‘Anaconda’. It’s action-oriented and adventurous film,” she said.

Also starring Imran Abbas, it is produced under the banner of T-Series and is slated to release Sep 12.

Movie Review 

Right towards the end of ‘Singham Returns’, a dialogue is bunged in. It is borrowed from a popular long-running TV show involving a certain Inspector Daya and a door about to be battered. Everyone in the audience cracked up. It was a relief, even if momentary, because the rest of the film is a drag.

Not for the lack of Rohit Shetty-style pyrotechnics. The sequel to ‘Singham’ is chock-full of the usual car-on-jeep action. Explosions go off at regular intervals. Shoot-outs—one really well-shot– occur frequently. Like last time, invincible cop Bajirao Singham cracks a carbine single-handedly when the going gets tough. He also strides in slow-mo down rows of cheering extras when he is not rising out of the water, droplets dripping down his bare rippling chest, male eye candy to his admiring lady love Avni.

Ajay Devgn is better in terms of performance since his last stint at playing Singham. He is marvelous and keeps the film flowing thick despite visible discrepancies. Even the faults you buy because of his conviction on the character. Probably his most memorable screen appearance, Ajay does justice to a character in a film that doesn’t quite live up to his potential.

Kareena Kapoor is used as a mere distraction in the film. Her comedy isn’t very funny. Her action seems forced and her emotions seem fake. She is pleasant face on screen who offers some respite sometimes but the actress doesn’t grab noteworthy attention in the film. Anupam Kher does a good job. So does Mahesh Manjrekar, who quite slips well in the roles of political stalwart and state CM. Coming to the villains, they were two very poorly cast actors. If you expect me to be petrified or intimidated by a sugar coated, religious leader who is caricaturish version of some ‘Bapu’, then it fails to work. The same goes for Zakir Hussain who is more of a comedian than villain.

Ajay Devgn Turns Producer For Marathi Film ‘Vitti Dandu’

Actor Ajay Devgn is all set to step into the shoes of a producer for a Marathi period drama titled, ‘Vitti Dandu‘. The actor’s production house will be producing this film, which is based on the fight between choosing the love for one’s country and the struggle of attachments with loved ones.

It is mainly based on a relationship between a grandfather and his young grandson. The film is slated to release by the end of the year. Its trailer is all set to be unveiled with Singham Returns in theaters.
